Auto Steer
Schipper Family Farms uses auto steer technology in our tillage, planting and harvest equipment. It has increased our productivity while decreasing operator fatigue, reduced overlap in tillage passes, chemical and fertilizer application.
Software
Schipper Family Farms uses Apex which is John Deere’s software to download all the field maps of the different operations that happen on the field throughout the growing season. We will use these maps for such things as comparing seed varieties or figure out patterns in a field over several years.
Variable Rate Technology
Schipper Family Farms has set up all of our fields on a four or five acre grid that we use to soil sample and apply fertilizer. This allows us to change the rates of fertilizer while it is being applied to put on the needed amount instead of a blanket rate on the entire farm.
